5 Ideas for You in 2020!
Happy 2020 everyone! Here is a newsletter for you with a few ideas for this year!
The 4 H’s!
Focus is essential.
In today's world there are millions of distractions.
There are so many things that are vying for your attention that might seem pressing, but aren’t truly all that important.
I believe it is very helpful to establish a framework for the focus and prioritization of your life. Without a framework, there is just such a tremendous amount of distractions and shiny rocks that will pull you away from what you need to be focusing on.
I’ve been thinking about this for the past few years and now my focus is on four main topics. I call them “The Four H's.” They are:
Happiness & Contentment
Heart
Health
Hard work
(And there's an extra fifth H as well, which is helping others that I think is also very important. It isn’t necessarily required, but can add so much to a person’s life.)
Here is my personal version of this for the next few years or so. I genuinely want to keep striving to be the absolute best version of myself. Lean in. Work hard and love deeply. I re-read these 4 paragraphs usually every morning to keep me focused.
😀 HAPPINESS / CONTENTMENT - Spend 5 minutes writing what you are grateful for with the gratitude project! Appreciate being alive on this little earth. Have fun! Breathe deep. Fly drones! Enjoy Salsa and Country dancing. Ride Electric Skateboards! Ride Motos! Basketball. Vlogs & Youtube. Build The Studio. Go on trips and adventures. Don't take things too seriously. Smile. Enjoy life!
❤️ HEART - Love your family. Go on family vacays. Courageously seek out and find a great girl. Spend time with her and love her deeply. Move towards a solid marriage. Love your friends. Treat them well. Keep in touch with them. Be deeply compassionate and kind to everyone you interact with in your many circles online and offline
💪 HEALTH - Swim 6x a week. Exercise/lift about 3x a week. Happy vitamins. Meditate for 8 minutes or so. Massages each month! Counseling each month! Good sleep boundaries, go to bed before 11:59 PM. Blue blockers. Sleep vitamins and sleep deep! Visit doc and get checkup/physical. You deserve to have a healthy, clean and organized home.
🔨 HARD WORK/ MONEY - Focus on: good job + real estate + crypto + investments. Build a world class crypto and fiat portfolio. Have good insurance. Always be very frugal and plan for the future and for all the upcoming tough times.
The Goodness Project

“It’s better to light a candle than curse the darkness”
Our Studio community has been working in tech for over a decade and a half and one thing we firmly believe is the importance of striving for goodness in one’s personal life and in business. We believe that striving for goodness in oneself is a deeply personal experience and yet we wanted to share a few ideas on possible ways to continue to push for more goodness in our personal day to day interactions with others.
Goodness in one’s personal life
Respect and loving yourself — We believe it is important to start with a health self love and respect. Love for oneself is so important.
Respect and loving others — We believe it is important to strive to always respect and love others.
Be Generous — We believe it is important to be generous with your time and money to help others.
Stand up for others—If someone is being taken advantage of or is being mistreated consider being willing to speak up for them.
Striving for goodness in one’s business life may take a slightly different form. This may be in the form of such things as professionalism, courtesy, willingness to let others take the credit, and a strong foundation of ethics. One of the things that we’ve noticed in Silicon Valley is that sometimes in the dash for profit, goodness and respect for others can be ignored. We recognize the importance of capitalism and the importance for businesses to grow. However we believe in a nuanced approach. We don’t believe it is correct to disrespect or take advantage of others in the pursuit of growth. There should be a healthy balance and healthy boundaries established for business growth and also the respect of the people involved.
We believe that before our non-profit The Studio does any type of non-profit work it should first be firmly grounded in key principles that help set the standard for the organization. In all areas of the work that we try to do we try to keep a strong focus on goodness. The Studio team and community are committed to ethics in all activities.
Goodness in one’s professional life
Be a professional—Be professional and respectful in all business dealings.
Do no harm — Be conscientious of the effects of your business
Mute not block — We quietly mute people if needed instead of agressively blocking them online
Strive to lift others up — Strive for zero ego. Let others take the credit. Strive to lift others up.
Be positive — Life is tough, strive to be positive throughout the challenges.
We would like to very gently encourage all Studio members to consider aspiring to high levels of goodness and respect in their life and in their professional work. Feel free to reach out to us on Twitter if you have any additional questions or additional ideas about the Goodness Project or any feedback on your priorities & dreams for 2020.
